Silent Song by Patti Filion

This time of year the words I hear,
A cancer cure is nearly here.
The words come often to late for some,
Another year the damage done.
Another heart is full of pain
And all the efforts are made in vein
A cure a little late you see
For those I hold most dear to me.
You ask if there are darker days
My mind is in a empty haze
I hear the birds that sing the song
They sang the day my son went on
Into a place I can not be
I wait until its time for me?
In the silence of the song.
