Uterine Cancer in 27/10,000 Women Undergoing Morcellation

Today - For women undergoing hysterectomy by morcellation, the prevalence of uterine cancers is 27 per 10,000, with increased prevalence with advanced age, according to a research letter published online July 22 in the Journal of the American Medical Association.


Contralateral Prophylactic Mastectomy Benefit Questioned

Today - For women with stage I or II breast cancer without a BRCA mutation, contralateral prophylactic mastectomy is associated with an absolute 20-year survival benefit of less than 1 percent, according to a study published online July 16 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.


FDA Approves Zydelig for Three Types of Blood Cancer

Today - Zydelig (idelalisib) has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat relapsed forms of blood cancer, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia, follicular B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and small lymphocytic lymphoma, the FDA said Wednesday in a news release.
