What Can I Access?

The content and functionality that you are able to see depends on whether you are a Guest User or a Licensed User.

Guest Users have access free of charge to the tables of contents and abstracts of all articles. Guest Users can also set up journal issue alerts and favorite journal lists. Guest Users can purchase full text articles of interest directly by credit card.

Licensed Users are automatically recognised as belonging to an institution that has a ScienceDirect license. Based on the needs of an institution, ScienceDirect can provide access either to the entire collection of full-text journals and secondary databases, or to only a specified selection. The availability of a journal at your institute is individuated in the publications view, by icons placed next to the journal title and volume (which signify either subscribed, non-subscribed, complimentary or partner website). Licensed Users have access to the full text articles of all journals that their institution subscribes to. It is also optional for your institute to give you access to non-subscribed journals via one of two payment methods:

  1. the fee is charged directly to your institute's account, or
  2. you purchase the article directly by using a credit card.

If you are unsure what is available at your institute please check with your librarian.
