Are men more likely to have colon cancer than women?


David Metz, MD, Professor of Gastroenterology at Penn Medicine, responds:

Yes, slightly higher. Please look at this link from the Centers for Disease Control showing the distribution according to gender and ethnicity. Note that the reason there is a general decline in the USA may be because of our effective screening programs as well as other factors such as healthy living.
