Still Life with Buddha acrylic 22 x 28 inches 1995

Happily married for 33 years, I was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly before my retirement from clinical and school work. I required a mastectomy, radiation, physical therapy sessions, and medication. Emotional support from my family and friends was encouraging and comforting. My sister lovingly advised, "Now is the time to place yourself first; that will help you to heal."

During the early months of recovery, I enrolled in a course, "Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain." This was intensely absorbing and greatly diminished my preoccupation with my disease. The serious study of painting, drawing, and sculpture at a community college is now central to my life. A positive attitude and a commitment to artistic endeavors have helped me to thrive.
