The Art Program of the The Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, under the direction of Gianna Volpe, MFA, is proud to announce the Radiation Oncology Mural Project. This was a joint collaboration of friends and volunteers of the Art Program donating their time to transform a plain, ugly long hallway into a refreshing field of wildflowers and blue sky. This reflects the Cancer Center's committment to providing for their patient's needs in both body and soul. The response to the mural has been overwhelmingly positive from both patients and staff alike. One patient, so moved by the experience, taped an anonymous note to the wall:

For the last six weeks, I have been passing through this hall every day on my way to and from radiation treatments. Each day I enjoy the colors and variety of all of the flowers and look forward to the newest flowers that have been added. My mind is never on the next treatment or the last one, rather I anticipate how the garden has grown and smile at the beauty of it all. Thank you for giving all of us now and everyone in the future the abundant flowers in this lovely garden.
